Lost in Japan

17:37

As what the title of this post says, it is time to write about my trip to Japan during March.

You'll probably see how much I've grown, or shall I say aged... since it has been a long time I've posted anything about my travels and my face, at least.

Obviously, as a first-timer to Tokyo, I need to be touristy, as I ever am.

So glad that I'm able to wear my winter coats (even though it was supposed to be spring) but not quite spring yet, so it is better to wear more than too little right? Even though I've always be known to wear too little back in the UK.

Day 1
Shibuya Crossing and Hachiko Statue

This was like priority in my bucket list, so I was really elated when this came across as an unexpected route during my first day in Japan.

Visiting the Hachiko statue means you would probably have crossed in famous Shibuya crossing, and like many others, I left my mark on it too.

Taking a nice "in the moment" picture takes patience. This was one of the "behind the scenes", where more or less, everyone was in it.

Next is the most exciting part of every country's journey: taking their public transport! Purchased a Suica card, that's available for Tokyo only. I'm actually really clueless about the cards you can purchase, this whole trip I mainly just followed people around.

Day 2
Everybody scream.... "Disneyland!"

I was not kidding I guess when you're overseas you just want to see and do everything, that food just becomes a secondary importance to you so there I was, an honest, hungry kid getting her first meal around 2pm - which is a Minnie Mouse popsicle at Disneyland.

By the way, look at that hair curl baby, it looks so good with that weather, and yet I do the same things here in Singapore, and my hair doesn't even hold the curls well.

Day 3
Mount Fuji from Chureito Pagoda

Do take a moment to enjoy this beauty right here, because damn, I climbed up 400 steps for this view right here.

Another week or maybe 2 weeks later, this place would have been filled with cherry blossoms. Sad we were a little too early for it, nevertheless, it is still stunning.

Anywhere you go in the world, don't forget a good luck charm — we all need some luck in our life right?

Owakudani

We journeyed our way to Owakudani, where were going to take a scenic ship ride to see the landscape of Hakone. There we had some break time before the sailing time so I head over to the store and got myself the original Fuji Cola and their famous black eggs.

A review of these food products: Really loved the packaging of the cola, but sadly in contrast to its appearance, it has not much taste to it. It feels like sweet soda water, and the egg just tastes like any other normal chicken egg, so I guess I expected too much.

Here's a golden hour view of the scenery and of course, me, with my all-time favourite pose HEH.

Stopped by a rest stop before reaching Shinjuku area and this was so good! Kiromitsu and Kinako ice cream.

Day 4
Shimokitazawa, Meiji Temple, Harajuku and Totoro Museum

Really excited for this day because I'm finally meeting my uni mate Mizuki! It has been about 1.5 years since we graduated, so meeting people means alot to me as it just brings memories back and I can also be updated with their lives, their stories.

As much as I am a Totoro lover, I came across this video on Facebook about this Shirohige's Cream Puff Factory and this was part of my (not so important) bucket list. Apparently, they do only a limited amount of cream puffs everyday, so I made sure to go there early to be able to tick that off my bucket list!

Let's make my wish come true, please?

Something I have been waiting for since my departure... GINDACO Takoyaki! I missed this taste so much, back when they had a store here in Singapore about 6 years ago. IMO, Teri Tama is your best bet for the choice of flavour.

By the way, they just opened a branch now in Jakarta, so I am excited to try it the next time I go back to my hometown.

Of course, I had my fair share of being as narcissistic using the Purikura machines there, and probably where'd all my money went. No shame of putting this up man, while I'm still "young".

As what normal teenagers do, this is what "adults" do as well. Please, make me look like that in real life too, I need my smooth skin back, it has deteriorated ever since Chinese New Year this year, sadly.

Day 5
Day 5 was an easy-going day, so me and my other 3 colleagues decided to do even touristy stuff, which is walking around in a Kimono.

I got the rental from Klook, here's the link to where I rented my it from.

The staff was really nice, like the front staff understood English and Chinese, but the ones putting on your Kimono and hair was Japanese, so I kind of used body language to communicate like what I wanted for the hair.

I had a difficulty choosing my Kimono pattern at the start because there were so many colours, so many pretty patterns but I was just choosing the one that I can pull off.

This time round, I felt really satisfied for a costume rental since the hairdo was also included and customised because she made me had that twirl using a little of my fringe and yes I am also proud of myself for choosing a colour which is somewhat natural for my skin colour, I suppose. Well that's just my own opinion, but I do like it.

Funny thing was that my colleagues have difficulty walking with those sandals, and there I was like a brazen kid walking really fast and I did not feel any discomfort.

I totally lack of Japanese manners.

This was some of the moments at Sensō-ji Temple, Asakusa.

Moments in Japan were so funny though, it is just because we are Asians, and we look well, I guess almost the same in some ways, alot of tourists took pictures together with us. Looking at my face in the picture below, I was just amused and clueless what to do at that moment.

Day 6
Tokyo Station

Black x Black top to toe, a.k.a just wanting to show off my new kicks from Puma that I got it on impulse the previous day while walking about in Harajuku. So in all, I calculated, and at that time I think I got it off about $30-40 cheaper than in Singapore.

And again, look at that golden shine on my hair, come on, I feel like only overseas weather can do this. I honestly do miss the times I get to be in another country with all the 4 seasons.

This was the day, that I got kind of lost, near Shinjuku station. I was walking with Fidel, and suddenly I just couldn't find her. So I just went 2 rounds in and out of the station, and finally just decided to walk over to wherever there has wifi. So when I finally got wifi, I was so thankful for that, and long story short, I finally met my friend.

That's all for my short Japan adventure!
